To be fair, if the PS3 could get some games, and if Sony would stop constantly taking dumps on their fan base, like having price drops, only to have it revealed that it was to get rid of the unsold 60 GB models, the PS3 wouldn't be seen in such a bad light.
Sony is having to play catch up to Microsoft, which is really limiting their potential. In my opinion, they've got a uphill battle to even get on the path to living up the the PS2. They really need some killer games. Something to compete with Blue Dragon perhaps?
If MGS4 manages to stay an exclusive, they might have a chance.
Anyways, everyone I've talked to sounds satisfied with their purchase, the only complaint I've heard is the lack of games.

Well, it almost beats the 360 in catching on fire rates, and too expensive.

Odds are it won't. And it hasn't even beat the Wii, which is just under the 360 now. One hurtle at a time.

Also, I think by the end of this generation, the PS3 will have caught up to the 360, Blu-Ray will beat HD-DVD, and all 3 consoles will basically be even in terms of sales.

to be honest, i love the ps3. and wii.and xbox360.
it has a sleek look, and the games have awesome graphics. plus the blue ray makes it a bargain at what price it is.

The PS3 will probably end up winning the console war for this generation. The 360 got a head start and will be the PS3's biggest competitor. After families stop buying the Wii for their kids, and gamers realize the Wii has nothing else other than SSBB, Metroid Prime, and Mario...it'll continue to be the Gamecube 1.5...which sucks...cause I bought a Wii when it came out, hoping for some great games to come out for it within the given year. They could also add free demos for all their upcoming games like the PS3 and 360 do. Blu-ray is expected to destroy HD by the end of the year, and it's a cheap Blu-ray player for the die-hards.

Blu-ray blu-ray blu-ray...Ok now blu-ray might be nice and all, but is it really worth 600 buck don't think so. If you haven't heard the blu-ray disks mold and get little black specs on them that make the unreadable, this is because sony was stupid and rushed instead of waiting blu-ray has been in the process for yeart still isn't complete.

Hagriss, every format takes time to develop. DVD wouldn't be where it's at without the PS2.
Fortunately, DVD's only 'competitor' was the then defunct lazerdisc. Blue-ray is up against HD-DVD, and the 360 has had the longest time on the market.
And, sure, the PS3 is a cheap Blue-ray player, but the 360 has a extremely cheap (well, for what were talking about) add on HD-DVD drive, which still leaves it under the 80 GB PS3's price... and only slightly more than the liquidated 60 GB. The 360 also has better games, so, take that as you will.
Also, Sony and *ahem* Blockbuster are the only people really pushing Blue-ray. Most Sony formats are very unsuccessful/ useless. UMD. Memory Stick Duo. ect.

Did you seriously just ask that? Either buy a Blu Ray player for $1,000, or buy a PS3 for $500 which does the same thing. Worth it? Well for half the cost, I couldn't afford NOT TO. And 300 looks amazing on Blu Ray. None of my friends' blu-ray movies have ever molded...so Idk how these people treat theirs.
