Rumor has it that the next GameBoy is due out in '08, but with the huge success of the DS, it might be delayed/cancelled.

I doubt they would release another Gameboy after the DS. Maybe, and I kind of hope so, but it's doubtful.

DS was supposed to be seperate, but since it has mass success, I'd have to agree. But, now, Nintendo's in a rut. What's next for revolutionary after the DS two screen/touch screen?

Yeah, there isn't much you can do to upgrade from the DSL. I guess better graphics and all that, but then we might end up waiting forever to start a game, like on the PSP.

That's because discs give loading times all the time, cartridges don't. That's why Nintendo stuck with it. Handhelds=on the go. Waiting for loading times while on the go are a waste of time.

Kotaku is a reputable Video Gaming news blog. They're well known in the industry.

I prefer destructoid.com, myself, but Kotaku usually updates faster.

It was a few days ago, if you wanted to look on either of those sites.

I looked,a nd yeah, it makes sense. GB line had nothing special, DS is fresh and new. And still outselling everything else on the market(including the Wii) by nearly double on the second highest seller(Wii). Then again, I'd love to watch the next GameBoy outsell the PS4, like the GBA is doing with the PS3.

Well, it's always possible that they might bring it back, but, I dunno. After the (what I can only assume to be) massive failure of the Micro, and the crazy success of the DS, it really makes it unlikely.

I dunno, it kinda frustrates me, because I grew up with the Game Boy, and it basically makes that entire library incompatible (not that there are many games that you would want to play now a days, but the original Pokemon games, and stuff like DBZ: Legendary Super Warriors are still fun to pick up every once in a while).

Although, I don't know how successful a new DS would be. I mean, sure... They could probably upgrade the graphics to something more like the PSP, and create a more efficient cartridge media (because, as mentioned, the fatal flaw of the PSP is that it takes so LONG to load... Though the hardware redesign is supposedly going to fix that), and throw out the GBA functionality, and replace it with an original DS game slot... But, I mean, a lot of the DS's market share are people that play Nintendogs and Brain Age... I really doubt that they care about the graphics.

I dunno. The GB could someday become Nintendo's one outlet to appeal to the hardcore. God knows that the DS and the Wii don't.

You messed up your BB Code, lol.

Ah, sad thing indeed. The gameboy franchise provided me with many hours of entertainment. The DS is the future of gaming, let's hope they can seal that fate.
